dexvx 1
My storage server is a Core2 Duo based, and it cannot transcode 1080p remux's to my Windows 8.1 app on my tablet. Instead of upgrading the entire server to a Haswell based system, would buying a low-end video card (Radeon 6000/GT 600 series) work for transcoding? Will the MB3 Server software attempt to use the GPU for transcoding instead of the CPU?
Luke 37094
i don't believe upgrading the gpu will help. Another option is to consider storing your media in streaming friendly formats by pre-encoding.
dexvx 1
Thanks, I'm reading the state of gpu transcoding, and apparently its a mess with all non-standards going about. I suppose it's still relatively new. I saw an open ticket for adding Intel Quicksync to ffmpeg about 9 months ago, but its still up in the air.
