Jake404 1
Why is it that ET (desktop version) is consuming so much CPU? Two Electron processes uses 10-15% each when the application is idle. Playing an HD movie uses the same amount of CPU. Because of this I have been using the Store version which is using almost no CPU at all while idle and around 6% CPU when playing HD movies. However some movies aren't playing correctly in the store version. That's why I really want to use the desktop version instead but not at the cost of all my battery. Is this a known issue or just on mine? I'm running on a Surface Pro 4 (i7).
Luke 37065
The desktop version embeds Chromium and has quite a bit of hardware accelerated animations, that is probably the reason. What are the issues with the store version?
Jake404 1
A number of movies stutter when I start them, but if I scrub forward an arbitrary amount of time they play fine. If I stop the movie and resume it, it will stutter once again. It doesn't help to pause it and then play, thinking it's a buffering issue. I have to scrub the playbar every time. I have tried to compare the media info and the only thing that differs between the movies that stutter and the movies that work is the video level. The ones that stutter has level 40. It's not a network issue because I have tried huge movie files without any problems.
Luke 37065
hi @@Jake404, we are using the built in windows 10 video player with the store app and yes i notice the same thing. You'll see some stuttering for a few seconds and then it goes away. I will have to take another look at what techniques we might be able to use to work around that. Jake404 1
It doesn't last a few seconds for me. It keeps stuttering until I scrub forward.
