MB classic suddenly crashing

Windows 7 x64. Computer is not used for anything other than MB3/playing movies and live TV thru WMC. Launching MB within WMC just freezes up MC. Launching configurator gives "... has stopped working" windows error. Sometimes it's windows extensibility host that's stopped working sometimes it's just media browser configurator has stopped working. Tried uninstalling MB3 and .NET and re-installing. No change.

Looks like something failing at a lower level than us.  Information I found suggested possibly hardware failure or anti-malware bugs.  That doesn't help much but, if you have some sort of anti-virus software running, try disabling it and see if it is different.
