Nightreaver 9
Hello some of my videos get transcoded cause they have 7.1 audio. Please add same option for audio transcoding as you have for video transcoding! I noticed this cause I have a movie with dual language in 5.1 and 7.1, and 7.1 gets transcoded while 5.1 not. transcode-log ( https://pastebin.com/swcwDBfu ) This video plays fine for the 5.1 audio, but not for 7.1 audio. But beside this, i dont know why video gets transcoded with 7.1 aswell, not just audio. Edited April 3, 2017 by Nightreaver

Nightreaver 9
link not valid. because the bracket should not be part of the link - fixed it though So the 7.1 audio is TrueHD, why does it get transcoded? This gets transcoded Audio #2 ID : 3 Format : TrueHD Format profile : TrueHD+Atmos / TrueHD Codec ID : A_TRUEHD Duration : 2 h 3 min Bit rate mode : Variable Bit rate : 4 834 kb/s Maximum bit rate : 7 893 kb/s Channel(s) : Object Based / 8 channels Channel positions : Object Based / Front: L C R, Side: L R, Back: L R, LFE Sampling rate : / 48.0 kHz Frame rate : 1 200.000 FPS (40 spf) Compression mode : Lossless Stream size : 4.16 GiB (7%) Language : English Default : No Forced : No this 7.1 not Audio #2 ID : 3 Format : DTS Format/Info : Digital Theater Systems Format profile : MA / Core Mode : 16 Format settings, Endianness : Big Codec ID : A_DTS Duration : 1 h 56 min Bit rate mode : Variable / Constant Bit rate : 2 525 kb/s / 1 509 kb/s Channel(s) : 8 channels / 6 channels Channel positions : Front: L C R, Side: L R, Back: L R, LFE / Front: L C R, Side: L R, LFE Sampling rate : 48.0 kHz Frame rate : 93.750 FPS (512 spf) Bit depth : 16 bits Compression mode : Lossless / Lossy Delay relative to video : 2 ms Stream size : 2.05 GiB (10%) Language : English Default : No Forced Edited April 3, 2017 by Nightreaver
Luke 37071
The TV does not support TrueHD therefore it transcodes when that particular audio track is selected, which in this case it is.
FrostByte 5049
In addition the KS8000 has a DTS decoder so even though it doesn't support DTS-HD natively either the DTS decoder will still extract the lossy DTS core and play it without it needing transcoding. http://downloadcenter.samsung.com/content/UM/201612/20161209095658187/ENG_US-JZATSCK-1.2.2.pdf Edited April 3, 2017 by FrostByte
Nightreaver 9
The TV does not support TrueHD therefore it transcodes when that particular audio track is selected, which in this case it is. Okay, so if the audio is transcoded, why does it also transcode the Video? If it could just direct-copy it instead? I assume it would take less resources?
SamES 890
I will confirm tonight but I'm pretty sure that's what should be happening
SamES 890
So this has TrueHD. The video stream is being copied, audio stream is being converted. It probably depends on what the source video codec is (in your case 4K HEVC). I suspect it needs to be supported by the streaming protocol and this may be causing transcoding
