Docker Backup Question

I'm currently using Docker to try different configurations.

Everything is working great.  I'm using the premium backup feature, which is working great for paths, users, settings etc.  However, whenever I want to rebuild/change, I notice that there does not appear to be anything in my library.  I have to wait for hours the first time to rebuild the library.

On the positive side... this has really helped me clean up some of my naming for identification.  :)

On the negative side, now that everything is identified correctly, I hate waiting for the library to rebuild.

I have it set up to save the metadata with the files, and that helps a bit.

I'm guessing that there are some files that are not persistent that I need to backup/restore from the Docker container.

Any guidance on what these are and where they are located?

How did you run the container

I'm using OMV and used the Docker gui plugin for that.  I'm not at home right now, so I can't grab all of the parameters.  I added --net=host just to make things easy on the networking for now.

on the

I never really bothered to look at the full command it is running.

I'm pretty sure that everything is stored in a /config directory inside the docker container, but I haven't played with it much yet.

Yes, but good practice of anyone using docker and deploying with docker is to mount a system @/config

I'm new to Docker, so still learning.

Emby is the first one I've ever run.  I'm doing that because the OMV plugin hasn't been updated and isn't compatible with the latest version.  It started out just for testing to see if I could replace Plex.

So if I wanted... I could backup the /config directory in the container and spin up a new container where /config is on they system partition instead?

Yes, I would recommend using the wrapper script if the plugin is not working

What wrapper script are you referring to?

The recommended install method for docker, it's in the download instructions

I spent some time last night rebuilding my server with the recommended method.

Everything is working now, and my config is persistent.

In addition, the transcoding problems I had previously are much improved. I'm not sure of the reason behind that, but it was a pleasant surprise.

I had to work through some permission issues, but everything is great now. Much improved.

Thanks for reporting back !

Happy to.

Every day with Emby gets a little better...

My last holdout is TVHeadend as I test LiveTV/PVR.
