Request for Notice when settings change.

I was wondering if some sort of notification could be given when an update changes or removes settings?  I've noticed a couple of updates the last few months changed a few settings and I was unaware until I ran into issues.  Couple examples are that the selection to save images locally was unchecked and also my path substitution paths were removed.  I completely understand that sometimes these things are changed and might get reset, but some sort of notice to check settings that might have changed can remove issues.  I have no idea when these settings changed, and both may have happened with one major update, but I am not sure when it happened.  Just a suggestion that may help eliminate troubles for users (which helps everyone in the end).
