BartManDude 1
Hello, I have a Google Nexus player running the emby app. Everything worked fine with my older Mitsubishi LCD TV. I recently bought a new Vizio E65-E0 tv and now when I play a video from my library with Emby, it starts playing but without sound, in fact the TV loses sound for everything until I reboot TV or switch inputs and then all sound returns. So the only way I can watch and hear a video on Emby is to start the video, pause it, and then reboot the tv or switch inputs and then switch back. This is a pretty annoying way to watch videos Some observations I have had: If I chrome cast Emby from my phone to the nexus player, audio works as expected. If I use Kodi on the nexus to watch videos the audio is fine. If I use Empy on xbox one on Vizio, the audio is fine. It happens on almost every video, but not on all videos. I can't see a difference between the videos don't work and the videos that do as they have the same audio encoding. When I start a video, lose sound, then I reboot tv, the sound comes back. If it's a series and the next show autoplays, then the audio keeps working through out the seres\season. If I use any other TV, audio works as expected. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you. Bart Edited February 21, 2017 by BartManDude
ebr 14960
Try setting the audio option in the settings for the app to "Downmix to Stereo".
BartManDude 1
Thank you for the reply. It was already set at "Downmix to Stereo" I have tried both settings and neither affects the issue. ebr 14960
If you hit the "!" button during playback and say yes you are having a problem, does it correct itself? Can you follow the instructions here on sending a log from the app? Thanks.

Solution ebr 14960 Posted February 21, 2017 Solution Share Posted February 21, 2017 1) Have you tried setting the audio mode to "Direct"? 2) Try turning off auto refresh rate switching. The one you said worked was the only one that the program couldn't find a suitable refresh rate on your display for so it didn't switch.
BartManDude 1
I have tried Direct before. But I never thought to try turning off auto refresh rate switching and that my friend is the setting that was causing the audio to stop. YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you so much for your help, I really appreciate it. I thought I had tried switching all relevant settings but I was wrong THANK YOU for making my nexus and Emby awesome again.
