dcook 266
So I have moved my EMBY setup to Linux, as I wanted a OS with less overhead and more secure. Everything is working well, however I noticed that ffmpeg uses alot of CPU, for example its using 413% of CPU ? top - 13:53:43 up 15 min, 1 user, load average: 2.81, 0.81, 0.30 Tasks: 134 total, 3 running, 131 sleeping, 0 stopped, 0 zombie %Cpu(s): 52.9 us, 0.6 sy, 30.2 ni, 16.2 id, 0.0 wa, 0.0 hi, 0.0 si, 0.0 st KiB Mem : 16267088 total, 12958484 free, 1267288 used, 2041316 buff/cache KiB Swap: 16777212 total, 16777212 free, 0 used. 14692548 avail Mem PID USER PR NI VIRT RES SHR S %CPU %MEM TIME+ COMMAND 2321 emby 20 0 1029776 381176 5124 R 413.3 2.3 3:40.01 ffmpeg
Luke 37251
What version of ffmpeg? What is doing when it is using that much cpu?
dcook 266
In that example the server was playing one show 1.6GB mkv file Version of ffmpeg is the one the Emby setup program told me to download: https://johnvansickle.com/ffmpeg/builds/ffmpeg-git-64bit-static.tar.xz
dcook 266
I have also noticed in the Linux version that its very very slow to identify meta data, if you look at the screen capture its been like this for over a minute. Is there any Linux settings for Emby that can make this fast like it was in Windows? My internet connection is fine, so I know there is no issues there. Luke 37251
@@dcook one of our main providers has been up and down for the past several days and this is causing metadata download performance issues. you can learn more about it on their home page: http://www.omdbapi.com/ thanks.
