ebr 14929
I think we are getting close with the new Beta Preview. Thanks to everyone so far who has tried it and helped find issues and given feedback. For those of you who have been using it fairly regularly, I need your help with one more thing: Is the beta at least on par with the current official app in terms of functionality? Put another way - if you didn't follow these forums and woke up tomorrow and your Emby Roku app was the new Beta preview, would there be anything the old app did that the new one doesn't do? Anything that would make you feel like you "lost" something? To be clear, I know there are features that we all still want to see in the new app (and many are coming) but I just want to be sure that we don't take anything away when we roll this out to everyone. So only looking for things that are in the current app that are missing from the new version. Thanks. ---Known Missing List--- Photos Remote control Folder view Better OSD info during playback Channels Sub/Audio selection pre-playback (eventually in playback) Special Features (I'll edit the above as we identify and complete items)

Jdiesel 1114
I haven't really used the official app much to compared as I jumped right into the preview app when it was released. I did notice that the OSD when playing a video is pretty limited. No quality, audio, or subtitle settings or media info is available when playing a video. Waldonnis 148
Audio and subtitle selection is lacking currently. The Roku default presentation of track selection during playback is pretty awful to deal with if you don't know what order the streams are in the file. Ideally, I'd like to be able to select them before playback so I can also see the descriptive name of the audio stream, but some improvement for selecting sub/audio during playback would be welcome as well. Being able to see person details and other films for the director would be lovely, and maybe have an expanded view to view the rest of the crew (rather than just the actors). The latter is more of a wishlist, of course. Lastly, I don't currently see any watched status indicator on collections, only the watched checkmarks on the individual films within a collection's view. Rumbaar 13
I've ordered a Roku and will get it tomorrow. I'll look to only install the BETA version and report back on it's functionality. It'll hopefully be used by novice and children.

Waldonnis 148
How much of this is different from the current official app? The official app allows audio/sub selection before playback (Audio & Subtitles on the springboard) while the beta app does not allow any selection prior to playback - just a play button. To be fair, the official app's selection is pretty basic and doesn't show any names given to the streams (e.g. "Commentary"), but at least it shows the language coding, which can be a bit helpful at times (unless it's one that I have four English audio streams, then it's a craps shoot again). During playback, both the beta and official apps just rely on the Roku default presentation of sub/audio selection, which amounts to "1 of 2" - about as vague as it gets, so you have to go through all of them to find what you want to see/hear if you're unfamiliar with the order of the streams. For example, I have several movies that I keep original foreign language audio, an English dub, and a commentary track. They're not always in the same order, so I can't always assume that audio stream 1 is English nor can I assume that the commentary is always last. To find out, I have to start playback, scrub to where dialogue begins (sometimes several minutes in), and try a few to make sure I picked the right one...then scrub back to the beginning to actually start watching the film. Subtitles are worse, but that's a whole other can of worms. Since we can't assign names to external subtitles (e.g. "Forced", "CC") and there's no indicator shown in the Roku playback selection dialog as to which is which, I've actually started removing the CC SRT files from my library to prevent confusion during playback (much to the chagrin of one person in my household who actually likes watching movies muted with the closed caption subs for some strange reason). mbroku 2
I did not see plug-ins, for example the PlayOn plug-in. I am not sure if this was an option with the official app, but it was very useful to have and I did cough up a few dollars for it thinking it would be available. If this has been addressed elsewhere, my apologies. Only heard of the new Roku channel yesterday so here I am checking things out. Otherwise, love the new roku channel. Light years better. pt1xoom 12
So Far, the beta app does everything I normally do on the official app. I found that I can change the subtitle while watch a movie or show by clicking the * key.

Rumbaar 13
Installed, and ran. Working out easy to navigate. I have a library called "Music Videos", content type Music Videos and contains videos. Roku isn't able to display this library and returns error of unknown content type. Everything seems okay, though is there a way to incorporate a volume control/mute within EMBY? Not sure if that's a Roku limitation?
ebr 14929
The only volume control I'm aware of on the Roku is a mute state. Volume is controlled via the outboard devices.

ebr 14929
What should I do to update to the latest version ? You shouldn't have to do anything but if your app does not show version 1.19.11 in the options page then run a "System Update" from the Roku Settings menu. Now I have a folder option, but it's poor compared to the current version. - In the current version, I have all the folders in the first row of the browsing ; in the beta, I have to click on a “folder” icon - Once I'm in the folders, the beta doesn't have the subfolders, making the functionality almost useless ; the subfolders allow to browse by the categories I've created and the way I've decided to class the movies It's important to be able to have the same sorting on the device than in our folders on our computers, making it easier to browse Thank you for all your work ! vhds 1
Can you please explain this in more detail? For example, in the current version, when I navigate by folders, I can do the follwing - Go into the movies folders, where all my movies are, in different categories - Go into the Drama (or Sci-Fi, or any other) folder, where all the movies I have classified in that category. - Then, pick my movie It's particularly interesting as we don't all have the same # of movies in the same categories For example, I watch few Fantasy movies, so all these ones are in another of my categories But I watch plenty of comedies, so I can class them in different folders (Comedy - French ; Comedy - Action ; Comedy - Familial story, etc.) With the Beta preview, when I'm in the first folder (movies), all the movies in all the folders are together, withotu the capacity of browsing the classification I've done
speechles 1920
It also needs the isFolder in sortby to push the folders up front and first shown. Makes it easier to navigate. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk
