Problem with ffmpeg

I downloaded emby couple of months back but left it due to lack on compatibility with other devices. Recently I saw that later they have really got into the game so I updated my emby server. Unfortunately whenever I go to play anything it just shows a black screen. I tried with live TV too and same issue. Can anyone advice what should I do.

Let's start off with a dew details. I assume you're using Linux since that is the thread you posted in. What distro? What version of emby-server do you have running? What are you using to try and play something, the WebUI? What "tutorial" did you use to install the server? If Ubuntu, what is the output of... 

service emby-server status

I may not be the best Linux tech out there but starting here will give the community somewhere to begin.

I just reinstalled emby and it works on my iPhone now I still can't get it to play on my apple tv. Coming from plex I still think plex has a better interface and is much faster to load movies etc but emby is definitely getting there and their live TV option is definitely a winner.

What about the interface do you think is better? As far as apple tv goes, best thing to do is provide the emby server log:

Thanks for that. I will provide the logs in sometime. The general layout just seems better. Don't like the folder's that are on the front page in emby I'd rather have suggestions. Also I have a lot of duplicates of the same movie. Whilst plex keeps It together under the same movie name emby just shows it multiple times.

If you scroll down on the home screen we have suggestions right there. did you notice those?

Yes i did. But as I said it's the layout of how things are or maybe I'm just too used to the plex layout. But emby is definitely getting there for me.
