Watch Recording In-Progress? Skip around said recording?

So, I have my server and live TV all set up with my HDHomerun Connect. I can schedule a recording fine and play it back when its done. All good.

 

Now, if I start the recording while its still recording, it starts me from the beginning and only allows me to skip forward a tiny bit (like a minute or so?).

 

I can also play the show live, (which I notice, does not use a new tuner) but this does not allow me to tap into the recording (I can't rewind past where I started it live).

 

Is there anyway to start a recording, while it is still in progress, and skip forward as much as I want? Even skip up to live?

 

So far I have only tested in a web browser; eventual application will be on a Shield TV.

Answer is not at the moment. It may be something that can be done in the future. I believe the issue is that during the recording they do not know the full extent of the file.

 

I am sure someone else will expand on the reasons.
