Parki79 0
Hi, is this possible to install the android TV on any generic android box and be able to pin above android 5.0?
maegibbons 1267
Hi Above android 5.0 should be fine. BUT you may have issues with the cheap boxes. I tried with an Amlogic Qbox but soon upgraded to Fire TV to save a lot of agony. Krs Mark
Parki79 0
Gonna use on my shield but it's for a mate. What issues did you have?
maegibbons 1267
Hi Wrong aspect ratio, no display or display and no sound. Varies by box and stream type. Best to stick to supported hardware i.e fire tv or Android TV like the shield. The Xiomni MI box 3 is also Android TV spec and is a good 2nd choice to the Fire tv IMHO. RanmaCanada 347
You can use one of the cheap android boxes, but you need to ensure the firmware works properly. IE check freaktab or tvboxforums for an updated firmware that fixes the issues with these chinese boxes. Then you SHOULD be able to play everything perfectly fine. If not, you can always use the external player option and use SPMC to play everything.
