hakras 5
Hello, I have 4 Shield TVs in the house and none of them are able to watch Live TV. I just get the rotating circle a few times and it goes back to the guide. I tested Live TV in a web browser and it works. It also works from the iPhone app. I am also able to use the HDHR app and Kodi with the HDHR plugin to watch Live TV on the Shield TVs. My Emby Server is running the latest stable version (3.1.2.0). Log attached...TIA EmbyLog.txt

Solution ebr 14958 Posted January 4, 2017 Solution Share Posted January 4, 2017 This is probably the ffmpeg 3.2 issue. Can you please try the beta version of the app and let us know if it works? Android Open Beta Testing
hakras 5
After updating to the beta version, I can view Live TV. Thanks! Two followup questions: 1. Is there a way to change the transcoding temp location (C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\transcoding-temp)? 2. Why does Live TV transcode? Shouldn't the Shield TV be able to handle the file natively? Thanks again
Luke 37232
@@hakras, have you explored transcoding settings in the Emby server dashboard?
hakras 5
@@Luke @@ebr, I didn't notice that previously. I haven't looked there in a while. Thanks. Why is Live TV transcoding on the Shield TV?
ebr 14958
Why is Live TV transcoding on the Shield TV? Any number of things could cause this including the settings in the app or the streams that exist within the Live TV channel at the time and the available bitrate and the information we have about the stream. What is the source of your Live TV?
Jgthree 0
Updating to beta allowed me to view my live TV channels via direct streaming on Nvidia Shield.
