Emby for Andriod TV/Fire TV 1.3

We are very excited to announce a new and improved version of one of our flagship TV apps. This version brings increased stability and the addition of support for HD (lossless) audio pass thru on supported devices.

Lossless HD Audio

This version brings the ability to bitstream DTS-HD MA and Dolby TrueHD audio to the Android TV platform (supported device and audio equipment required) making it a true alternative to a cumbersome HTPC setup even in your dedicated media rooms.

Increased Stability

We went on a pretty serious bug hunt in our own code with this version but also upgraded many of the framework and 3rd-party components we use which brings even better stability and speed for both browsing and playback. We think you'll be very pleased with the app's performance.

Other Improvements

In addition to the above, the new version includes the following other improvements:

  • Chapters and media info now displayed for plain videos
  • User-controlled playback problem handling
  • Fix OSD showing with some TVs when volume buttons pressed
  • Improve refresh rate switching
  • Improve transcoding need determination for more direct streaming
  • Simplify user settings
  • Fix not being able to play audio podcasts
  • Add option to not show the "Up Next" preview at the end of episode playback
  • Add 100Mb max bitrate setting
  • Fix the sort order by date in grid views
  • Remember the last zoom setting for videos and re select it on subsequent playback

* Note: The Nvida Shield is the only current hardware known to support lossless HD audio pass thru. Hopefully, more devices will in the future.
