Normalizing Audio

Window Media Center experience has been:

  • TV - Played at 50-100% System Volume
  • Movie - Played at 50-100% System Volume
  • Ripped TV - Played at 40-80% System Volume

Is there anyway to normalize the audio of my system so 50% system volume would be about the same not matter what program is selected.

Thanks for any tips!

PS  - Using LAV filters part of the K-Lite Lite Codec Pack with Windows 8 x64.

Not an answer to my question, but wanted to share an interesting trick for application level volume control.

You can use the following command line as a scheduled task running once a hour, which runs a loop once a second, for just short of the hour scheduled task duration.

http://nircmd.nirsoft.net/changeappvolume.html

nircmd loop 3598 1000 setappvolume TTSAnnounce.exe 0.75

This keeps all TTS announcements from my home automation Vera controller on the network at 75% of the main volume.

Note - I run the TTSAnnounce.exe program as a service (as the system account), so I ran the scheduled task as the system account.  Normally, it should run as the same user account that the applications is being run as...unless you just want to change the system account.

If anyone has any ideas but keeping the TV and movies the same volume...my Fiance would really appreciate it.

Thanks!
