EmbyDucky14 0
Hello everybody,I have a similar problem with the direct play of movies.Hardware: Himedia Q5Pro; Android 5.1.1, System 1.08Latest Emby App for Android TVSynology NAS DS214play with current Emby ServerWhen I play with the Emby software and external playersome movies go and some do not.Obviously, the path is taken over the Emby server. In the server I tried to adjust the path substitution. Here I think is the mistake. The setting "From To" does not exist anymore. And the exact syntax of the path substitution is completely obscure to me.Specific questions:How exactly is the path substitution used?Does the server need to be restarted after setting?Does the direct path option have to be selected in the Emby Player software?Does the internal player (or the wrapper) have to be specially configured in the Q5?Many thanks for your help Andreas
Logos302 86
Do you have a screen cap of your current library setup with path substitution. Mine is setup so that the server has the direct path D:\tv and the path sub as \\server\tv so that when a machine out there is looking for d:\tv it's actually looking at \\server\tv. But the server continues to look at D:\tv this allows for the library scan not to have to use direct access rather then network. The external player should be passed the path sub value to the file. Luke 37233
It's now embedded directly into library setup when you add a media folder

Luke 37233
I'm afraid you are the only one who can answer that based on the way your network shares are configured. However at first glance it looks OK to me.
ebr 14958
You mentioned trying to pass this path to an external player on Android TV. I believe that is going to be looking for '/' instead of '\'. But the app should actually be converting this for you and also prefix the path with "smb:" because I believe this is how the Shield requires it. The bottom line may be that it isn't possible to pass the direct path to an external player on Android TV on every device/player combination but you should be able to get it to work by un-checking the direct path option.
