Windows 10 clean install of Emby Theater, almost perfect, small problem with Live TV

Did a complete removal and reinstall on the Windows 10 Emby Theater app, that I downloaded a few minutes ago from this website, this is running on my Tronsmart Ara X5.  It is playing ALMOST fantastic, but there is an audio hiccup about every minute (variable time interval) or so.  Did not notice this prior to clean install.  This is an HD channel in 1080i mpeg2 ts format with Dolby Digital (as shown on my Denon AVR).  The stream is playing with "Direct Playing".

On a side note, I would like to use this inexpensive traditional remote to use with my client device >>

Ortek Windows 7 Vista XP Media Center MCE PC Remote Control and Infrared Receiver for Home, Premium and Ultimate Edition

https://www.amazon.com/Ortek-Windows-Infrared-Receiver-Ultimate/dp/B00224ZDFY

Some of the buttons work, but not all, channel up/down do not work.  Hard to describe what functions that are missing.

Edit: Don't mean to imply that is is unwatchable, just a minor noticeable hiccup, again ALMOST PERFECT.

Been playing the same channel since I posted this.  Now changed to a 720 mpeg2 ts channel and do not see that audio problem of the instant pausing issue (hiccup).

Another issue I noticed, I paused the video while I had to do something, but when I start playing the video it is still delayed the amount of time that I had it paused, which is GREAT.  However, I can't figure out how to fast forward, so I am stuck watching 5 minutes (paused time) behind, so have to watch the commercials.

Uh-Oh, played "A Christmas Story (1983)" MKV video for grandkids, but video was transcoding, so video not perfect.  Any reason it is being transcoded?

Running Emby Theater on Tronsmart Ara X5, same as server running on same device.

see attached files.

thanks for you help.

Make sure theater can access that y: path

It does.  Played a different DVD rip with MKV, (Home Alone) with Dolby D and it played ALMOST PERFECTLY, except for an occasional volume dip.  Did not check to see if it was direct playing but assumed it was because it played so well.  I just checked the logs and no ffmpeg log created.

I still not figured out which format gives me problems so far.  Most of my 1080P BlueRay rips play almost perfectly.

Also, my 15 year old granddaughter likes ET eye candy.  She is only here ocassionally, so does see the incremental improvements.

Looking at the logs, while I had a video playing, this server was "probing" other Emby clients on my network, one, my Android cell phone (not being used).  Secondly, an Android box that is powered on but being used. Not sure if all this "probing" is causing problems.

No that's the other way around. Other devices probing the server.

I think the issue is Theater can't access the Y: path

Thanks for that answer, just saw that my phone was probing.  Not sure how to verify the Y: path, but appears to accessible.  The movies I have been playing are X: path.  Two different NAS's.

Edit: Those are "mapped" network drives (NAS's)

Ok, that looks ok. How do you have your ET video and audio settings configured?

Took pics with phone, waiting for them to upload to my email, then I will post them here.

Well, there is nothing there that would suggest a cause for transcoding. But I would suggest selecting EVR+ for your video renderer and select your AVR as the WASAPI audio device. Also, if the GPU is able, select DXVA2copyback for hardware acceleration. And prove Luke's suggestion of having a direct path. If you do all of that and you still have issues, please share a sample for testing.

The log you posted was for a different movie on Y path, is Christmas Story on X path?

Not sure how I selected the log for that Windtalkers movies, because it is on my Y path.  After I reinstalled the Emby Theater, I ran some basic test on different Video formats.

I have to use "mapped" drives for my NAS's, because sometimes the "file explorer" can't find my networked drives (another issue not related to this project).  So I have to use a work around.

I will test the EVR+ setting, even though I have no idea what it means.

" select DXVA2copyback for hardware acceleration", I will try this also.

Thanks for everyone's help.

Following this thread with interest. I just hooked my own Tronsmart Ara X5 Plus up to the TV today, after doing some configuration at my desk hooked up to a regular monitor. All seemed well then. When I pressed the unit into service I'm seeing glitches. I will start my own thread once I narrow down what's going on, but I'm interested in the general topic of "optimizing Emby theater on Tronsmart Ara X5 plus units."

What's the correct way to verify path access by ET in a situation like this? Sorry if this sounds like a silly question but I can see a couple interpretations. :-)

For the transcoding issue you could try using UNC paths like //SERVER-NAME/movies rather then the mapped drive path.

I have tried using those paths also, but they seem to work better from my Emby server LINUX server installs, than my Windows server installs.

I changed to your settings, eveything worked except the DXVA2copyback acceleration, had to change it back to "Auto".  It is now playing with "Direct Playing" and Dolby D, awesome.  Will monitor to see how it plays, and see if the volume keeps dropping like some other videos.
