JarvisTek 3
So I'm guessing this is another one of those "They call it the bleeding edge of technology for a reason" moments, but my wife and I just got Google Pixel phones and whenever we try to play anything through the app over Chromecast, literally nothing happens. Below is the only thing in the server log (there is no transcode log since it never hits that point): 2016-11-25 17:24:00.3868 Info HttpServer: HTTP GET http://emby.jarvistek.home:8096/Users/cda82162168049b8ab77152268f9f9c1/Items/76b559314d33d590fc17e198213b9fe7. Videos play fine directly on the phone so far, just not able to cast (which is how I have our TV set up).
Luke 37166
Hi, I have a Google Pixel for testing and Chromecast works great with it. Can you please attach the complete Emby server log? thanks.
JarvisTek 3
Just restarted the service so you wouldn't have to parse through 40mb of log. I started it back up, opened emby on the android app, and tried playing a file several times through Chromecast. server-63615693996.txt Edited November 25, 2016 by JarvisTek
Luke 37166
Hi @@JarvisTek, when you use your app to connect to the server, try connecting to the server via ip address instead of emby.jarvistek.home. What's happening is this emby.jarvistek.home address is being passed to Chromecast, but Chromecast cannot resolve local hostnames, therefore it can't reach your Emby server. I'm adding some changes into the app to better handle this by checking if the server address is an ip address or not and acting appropriately, but for a more immediate fix, you can use my suggestion above. Thanks.
JarvisTek 3
Yup, that looks like it. Working through this list of IP addresses (http://blog.hroyer.com/post/80949364370/how-to-bypass-chromecasts-hardcoded-dns-and) on my router to point it to my internal DNS. Just passing this on to anyone else that may need this. TL;DR - Sinkhole 8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4, 208.67.222.222 , and 209.244.0.3 to your internal DNS to force Chromecast to use your internal naming.
