Macburp 109
OK, I have MB server (v.3.0.5115.35703) running on a Windows 7 machine. I have MBC (v.3.0.96.0 B11-19.1) and the Android and Roku clients accessing the server. MBC is used exclusively on an Xbox 360 in extender mode. I use the Diamond theme Certain HD MP4 files make my extender crash when trying to play them. It is my practice to convert MKV files to MP4 using Handbrake (MKV files look awful on the extender), some of these files are crashing the extender. The Roku and Android clients play the files without problem, so I suspect the bug (if it is such a thing) is in MBC. ebr 14944
Are they high bitrate files? MBC doesn't do much of anything with playback - that is all MS but I have heard that the 360 cannot handle very high bitrate content.

Cheesegeezer 3089
3500kbps ABR - not that high? Macburp, how are you connected to your extender, wireless or LAN. There was a period of buffering in the log, which may suggest that the XBox got lost along the way and crapped out. @@ebr could you have a look at these last few lines from the MBC log. There seems to be an awful lot of chatter with playstates. 2014-01-22 07:59:41.2552,Info,,Internal Player about to play 14 - The Ebony Falcon(F:\Xvids\Videos\Brooklyn Nine Nine\Season 1\Brooklyn.nine-nine.s01e14.720p.hdtv.x264-remarkable-1.mp4) ,43,Worker thread for Play Action 2014-01-22 07:59:41.2997,Info,,Internal Player playing 14 - The Ebony Falcon,43,Worker thread for Play Action 2014-01-22 07:59:41.3027,Debug,,Calling MediaCenterEnvironment.PlayMedia,1,Application 2014-01-22 07:59:46.3639,Debug,,Going fullscreen,1,Application 2014-01-22 07:59:46.3884,Debug,,MediaCenterEnvironment_PropertyChanged: MediaExperience,1,Application 2014-01-22 07:59:47.0784,Debug,,HandlePropertyChange has recognized that playback has started,1,Application 2014-01-22 07:59:47.0800,Debug,,Sending Http Post to http://192.168.1.32:8096/mediabrowser/Users/46710235-308f-27ea-7724-4e37bb888dac/PlayingItems/21ec3d94-21b7-c83c-7284-02c6cd81e958?CanSeek=True&QueueableMediaTypes=&format=Json,1,Application 2014-01-22 07:59:47.4395,Debug,,Setting now playing status to True,1,Application 2014-01-22 07:59:47.4405,Debug,,Playstate changed to Buffering for 14 - The Ebony Falcon,, PositionTicks:0,, Playlist Index:0,1,Application 2014-01-22 07:59:47.4405,Debug,,Back from PlayStateChanged,1,Application 2014-01-22 07:59:47.4405,Debug,,MediaCenterEnvironment_PropertyChanged: MediaExperience,1,Application 2014-01-22 07:59:47.4710,Debug,,MediaCenterEnvironment_PropertyChanged: MediaExperience,1,Application 2014-01-22 07:59:47.4875,Debug,,MediaCenterEnvironment_PropertyChanged: MediaExperience,1,Application 2014-01-22 07:59:47.8485,Info,,Received web socket message: UserDataChanged,7, 2014-01-22 07:59:49.4633,Debug,,Playstate changed to Playing for 14 - The Ebony Falcon,, PositionTicks:0,, Playlist Index:0,1,Application 2014-01-22 07:59:49.4633,Debug,,Back from PlayStateChanged,1,Application 2014-01-22 07:59:49.4953,Debug,,Sending Http Post to http://192.168.1.32:8096/mediabrowser/Users/46710235-308f-27ea-7724-4e37bb888dac/PlayingItems/21ec3d94-21b7-c83c-7284-02c6cd81e958/Progress?positionTicks=5000000&isPaused=False&isMuted=False&format=Json,45,Worker thread for BasePlaybackController OnProgress 2014-01-22 08:00:11.5936,Debug,,Playstate changed to Undefined for 14 - The Ebony Falcon,, PositionTicks:0,, Playlist Index:0,1,Application 2014-01-22 08:00:11.5936,Debug,,Back from PlayStateChanged,1,Application 2014-01-22 08:00:11.5946,Debug,,Calling HandleStopedState,1,Application 2014-01-22 08:00:11.5946,Debug,,In HandleStoppedState,1,Application 2014-01-22 08:00:11.5946,Debug,,Events unhooked,1,Application
ebr 14944
Everything is normal on the MBC end. The playback crapped out very quickly and WMC reported that the playstate had gone to "Undefined". This is because the 360 crashed. Something about these files is not compatible with the 360.
Macburp 109
My connection is wired. Looks like i need to spend some time checking my handbrake settings.
jcain 7
did those movies have subtitles?
Macburp 109
did those movies have subtitles? No they didn't. I spent some time going over my handbrake settings, can't see what might be wrong. As far as I can see my MP4 h.264 files meet the extender spec - profile setting is below 4.1, bitrate below 10Mbps, audio is low profile - so I'm a bit puzzled. So I've looked for an alternative tool to handbrake on videohelp.com, and I'm trying this - http://forum.videohelp.com/threads/340675-Mkv%D0%A2%D0%BEMp4-v0-224-rapid-tool-for-repack-Mkv-to-Mp4 which rips the video from MKV to MP4 containers rather then re-encode the video - which is really all I want. Its quick too. We shall see if it does the job.
