Heuer 76
Would there be any interest in integrating Amazon Echo/Dot control into Emby? e.g Alexa ask Emby to play next Family Guy Alexa open Emby Movies Alexa shuffle Emby music Alexa pause Emby Alexa Fast Forward Emby 3 minutes Alexa ask Emby to play next episode Amazon are offering the API to developers: https://developer.amazon.com/public/solutions/alexa/alexa-voice-service/content/avs-api-overview Logitech has already integrated Alexa with their Harmony remotes: https://support.myharmony.com/en-us/harmony-experience-with-amazon-alexa and Sonus will shortly do so. Could be a USP for Emby compared to Plex and Kodi! Edited October 31, 2016 by Heuer

Heuer 76
Yes, but it does not seem to have been filed as an official feature request
Luke 37118
It's something we'd love to have, yes.
MSattler 387
One thing I have noticed is Alexa has issues understanding the word Emby. When using "Alexa, turn on Emby" it things I say all sorts of different stuff. So right now it's "Alexa turn on Shield" or "Alexa turn on Movies". Heuer 76
The way to improve recognition is to use words with more syllables or a string of words e.g. "living room" seems to be more recognisable than "lounge". 'Emby' is particularly difficult and the Shield TV voice remote also has difficulty searching on it. Oddly 'Kodi' is recognised all the time. ebr 14935
I'm afraid our logic to keep the name sounding phonetically still like "MB" hurts us in voice recognition. Oh well...
Norin 1
Hi i have been watching people do all sort of things with alexa, they are very cool. But i think there is something cooler than Alexa... and if you like opensource and the idea of you, and only you to listen to your commands and your voice recordings of everyday life... there's a guy you can also chat with, its mycroft... because i don´t want to fell in love with "her" and get my heartbroken or stolen.Maybe iam overreacting but i dont now how much data i want to reveal and the idea of me being the product, theres already enough data of mine i thinki dont want to be rude with this post but if you are an opensource fan, i think mycroft is a better companion or at least it can be your other friend i bet he likes to drink beerhttps://mycroft.ai/
Luke 37118
I think integration with both mycroft and alexa would be great.

twinkybot 3
I am trying right now to create a skill for Nanoleaf but I have no clue about Python so it will take some time. But after that I would go for Emby controls. I imagine I will find everything I need to call the REST API here: https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby/wiki? Wow extensive reading I found also the Python project. Any insights if this is still valid: https://github.com/mezz64/pyemby The last commit was august 2017 @@mezz64 still around? Luke 37118
Not sure but a 6 month old library should still be OK, at least as a starting point.
