WonkoTheSane 11
Hi all, I'm running Emby 3.0.7200.0 on Unraid. I have an issue with the "New content added" notification, or at least I think so. When adding a single movie to my movie folder and running a library scan, I receive a (pushbullet) notification the way I would expect. If I add more than one movie, no notifications are being transmitted to pushbullet. I still see the emby chrome notifications, but that's it. Is this the intended behaviour for this notification type? The pushbullet notifications plugin version I'm using is 3.0.6110.25064. I don't think it's related to the plugin, since I cannot find any hint of it being triggered in the logs for the failing usecase. Luke 37132
It should transmit the notification. maybe push bullet has a frequency limit?
horstepipe 356
It should transmit the notification. maybe push bullet has a frequency limit?no...?When you add multiple titles (almost) simultaneously and want to get notified about it you have to enable the notification for multiple content. unfortunately then you only get a message like "3 items added to library" which is quite useless in my opinion. I asked a couple of month ago to make those notifications more detailed so it lists up all added movies but it looks like there is not enough overall interest to prioritize the request. horstepipe 356
Let me recap what he says maybe I'm getting something wrong: - He adds one movie to database and gets notified - He adds multiple movies to database and doesn't get notified

WonkoTheSane 11
So this behaviour is by design then? That's a bit odd. I would really like more information than just the number of media items added in case of multiple additions.

WonkoTheSane 11
The "multiple" notification type seems to have been removed with the recent update. This might mean that the behaviour has been changed entirely. I'm curious to see how this turns out.

WonkoTheSane 11
Hi again, 2 observations: I'm not sure if the amount of "New content added" notifications that are being send is limited somehow, but I am still only seeing a fraction of the notifications I should be seeing during a library scan after having added 50+ files to the library. Also, I see notifications for new folders in my movie library. These folders contain a number of movies which were successfully added. I suppose this should not be happening?! Luke 37132
If you add them all in a very short period of time you will not get a notification for every single one, just up to a small limit.
horstepipe 356
Hey @@Luke I'm using the library monitor - very happy with it. Just a little thing: When adding new episodes, the new content notification shows the file name and not the scraped episode title. On the next scheduled library refresh, I'm sometimes getting the notification for the same episode, again (but now with the real episode name). WonkoTheSane 11
Hi again, 2 things: 1) I mentioned above that notifications are also send for new folders (at least for new folders in a movie library). Is this intended or a bug? 2) I kind of understand trying to avoid flooding the user with "new content" notifications, especially considering push services which might take this as a spam attack. BUT wouldn't it be feasible to have the notification plugins decide how many notifications to send out or how to "bundle" them? Some notification plugins may well be able to handle a library update of a couple of 100 or more items. For example, for my personal use, I've written a plugin which just writes the received notifications to a log file at a given path. There would be no issue here if all notifications were send to this plugin - at least none I can think of from the top of my head. Thanks for your time, Luke. Luke 37132
For #2 that probably makes sense, but we'll need community help to go through all the notification plugins and decide how each will handle it and build whatever is needed.
WonkoTheSane 11
Hi Luke, it would certainly be nice if that would happen. Another observation regarding notifications: The only notification type I have enabled on my server is "New content added". Still, I just saw a "Emby Server released" notification in Pushbullet and my notification log. This seems to be a bug. Regards Matthias.
Luke 37132
It's not a bug there's just no settings for Emby news notifications. When you add a notification service you will be notified of Emby news, including releases.
horstepipe 356
But it looks like all users are getting spammed by these. So please make them optional for supporters at least. Edited November 2, 2016 by horstepipe
