thejacer87 9
hi there, just preparing to setup a NAS, and i plan on putting emby on it. interface seems nice, and the kodi add on seems like it works well so it'll be nice to sync up all my devices to one db.... any way im a little confused about remote access and how the data gets served in general. First and simpler question. When I am on viewing on the same network as the server, i assume the data never leaves my house. But when viewing remotely, it obviously leaves the local network to get to me away from home. So does the app just do some check to see what network the client/server are on? i feel like it would be a huge flaw if it didnt. also since i have a data cap, that would be huge data usage. secondly, are there any ways to view remotely for free OTHER than just through a web browser? Luke 37299
Hi, welcome, and yes, the Emby apps are smart enough to connect to your server in best way possible depending on the available network connection. Have you checked out our apps for different devices? https://emby.media/download.html
