Navigation in ET for Windows Mobile - non-standard?

Is it just me, or is the navigation in the new ET UWP on Windows Phone somewhat non-standard and non-intuitive?

I expect the left arrow at the base of the phone to act as a backspace when in an app, but here it seems to close the ET app entirely.

I've discovered there's another backspace arrow hidden in the UI at the top of the screen - and it seems to come and go with a will of its own. In some screens it disappears entirely (press the person icon to reveal the Settings/Select/Sign-out screen, and you can't step back from that screen - you can only go forward).

I'd like a way to jump back to the Home screen, but I haven't found it yet.

I suppose I'll get used to it, but I don't particularly like it when an app rewrites the rulebook.

The app layout is currently not suited for small screen smart phone use. In time it will ultimately look more like the android app.
