deanylev 7
I have a 16 thread CPU in my server, and the transcoding settings range from 1-8, and then max. It'd be awesome if Emby could detect the number of threads your system has (that isn't too hard, right?), and then display that in the list, so you have true control over it. Keep up the good work guys Edited September 17, 2016 by deanylev
ebr 14925
In the meantime, I believe there are 3rd party tools that will allow you to do this. I think that @@pir8radio has such a setup.
pir8radio 1292
Yea the built in thread control doesn't do what you would expect anyway... If you set it to 5 in emby and you start up two video streams each stream will consume 5 random threads... Not limited to 5 specific threads nor the same 5 threads.. I found this to be an issue for me when the server gets busy, multiple streams going, it slowed down the web interface... I use process lasso https://bitsum.com/ You can limit ffmpeg to only run on specific threads or cores... There is some more info on what i'm doing in this post: http://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/36352-how-many-user-can-i-use/?p=342824 Let me know if you go this route and need a hand, but its pretty straight forward. EDIT: for some reason the emby bost above is not clickable... strange.... You may have to copy paste it.
