VabaX 0
no matter what I do, no matter what combination of different view, sort, whatever, options I select, I cannot get any of my folders/series of movies to display themselves by order of oldest to newest. for instance, my folder with all 5 Die Hard movies in it; when I set it to sort by year, it orders the movies completely randomly, with the newest first (2013) then one from 1990, then 2007, then 1988, and then 1995. sorting by date gives me a similarly jumbled order. even on every different view mode, they're still always out of order. is there any way to fix this, or am I just going to have to re-install MB 2.X ? Luke 37098
i'd start by reviewing metadata using the server's web interface
VabaX 0
i'd start by reviewing metadata using the server's web interface nothing wrong with the metadata. its exactly the same collection as I was using with the old MB, and that worked just fine. it even shows the year of the movies in their description. Yep same issue here, screenshot below of my 007 boxset it is all messed up date wise.I have it sorted by year and in any view it is the same, this is the classic (old default) theme. All metadata is correct. where Dr No was the first movies made in 1962 it is fourth in the list with Casino Royale first which was made in 2006 And yet this is what it looks like in the web client, all sorted correctly. VabaX 0
i would still take a look at it. like Yogi has shown above, the contents are all in order in both the web client and the android app when sorted by year/release date, just not in MBC. Mobileman22 0
Hi... Just for the record I have the same issue and am keen to know how to resolve. I assumed it was because I was a noob... happy to hear that it might be a fault. I have my media set up a little oddly, I have: x:/Jackie Brown x:/James Bond x:/James Bond/Dr. No x:/James Bond/Goldfinger and so on... so, I have gathered the metadata for the movies then moved them all into one 'James Bond' folder. I also find that no amount of organizing gets the movies into the correct date order. Looking forward to a resolve.
Yogi 367
This is fixed in MBC config,on the system screen make sure you have checked sort by year in ascending order and in the movie folder, click on the sort tab and sort by year. Also which version of MBC are you using

Mobileman22 0
Sorry, as a noob... does this need any update/download or can I just configure this? I will check it when I get home. PS. Where should I check the 'release date'? In the meta data? Edited January 21, 2014 by Mobileman22
ebr 14925
Look in the web client editor and tell me what the release date is for the items that won't sort properly.
Mobileman22 0
Ok, will check as soon as I get home... but for info, no films sorted in the right order.... for instance: in 'James Bond' they were all over the place in 'Star Wars' they were all over the place in 'Gremilins' I could make them display in the right order, but not by putting in year. I had to fudge it by putting in some random order like length or something. Will update in about 1 hour when I get in. Thanks again.
Mobileman22 0
@ebr I have checked and the 'release date' field is empty. The year is completed though. Does that meant I dont have the metadata to support 'sort by year'? I use MCM to get my metadata if that helps or if there is a way to rectify this. Thanks. ebr 14925
That is the problem. I switched MBC to use the release date field to cover situations where different movies are released in the same year. The next version of MBC will fall back to year if there is no actual release date. In the meantime, put the proper date in that field.
Mobileman22 0
@ebr Did I hear you say 'manual'?? For 1086 films?. Ok, so long and short, forget it for the mo! :-) Might check over MCM in case there is a check box I can tick.

Luke 37098
Ebr, maybe the issue is the sort field. If you're sorting on PremiereDate, try ProductionYear then by PremiereDate then by SortName. That's what the server-side sorting is doing.
audiophile42 0
Any update on this issue? I have the year and release date populated for all of my movies (verified in web metadata editor), and it sorts perfectly in the web interface, but in MBC when I select to sort by year, it continues to sort by however it previously was. I've tried with chocolate and default themes, with setting ascending and non-ascending. This is all after I switched from using MCM to MB for metadata, deleted my existing libraries and databases, and started from scratch. I've put a fair amount of time on this to get the metadata in the format for MB for year/date after the recent change. Any ideas or is this a pending fix? mitbac 0
Ok, but the sort order is still not correct. I can see that the wrong order applies on both MBC and MBT, so it seems like a wider issue. Do you guys have any resolution to this?

Please post screen shots of an example including the dates that are shown in the web editor.
ebr 14925
My sort priority is PremierDate -> ProductionYear -> Name. This was requested so that box sets will show items released in the same year in the proper order.
