whynotlinux 0
No any log file (/usr/lib/emby-server/logserver is empty (0 Ko) and /var/log/emby-server.log to) :-( I have just this backtrace when i start it manualy Mono: 4.4.2 (Stable 4.4.2.11/f72fe45 Tue Aug 30 15:47:09 UTC 2016) Application Path: /usr/lib/emby-server/bin/MediaBrowser.Server.Mono.exe exception inside UnhandledException handler: Object reference not set to an instance of an object exception inside UnhandledException handler: Object reference not set to an instance of an object [ERROR] FATAL UNHANDLED EXCEPTION: System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object at MediaBrowser.Server.Mono.MainClass.Main (System.String[] args) <0x4030c0e0 + 0x00225> in <filename unknown>:0 Connection to rextv.whynotlinux.org closed. thatoneguy99 33
Your log files should be in /var/lib/emby-server/logs. You may have a few in there but the ones that start with server are the ones you want to look at. My mono version is the same as yours to the T. What happens when you run sudo service emby-server status or sudo service emby-server restart? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
whynotlinux 0
yes it's /var/lib not /usr/lib ouppppsss ;-) but the server log file is created and is empty. when i run a start or restart emby-server service, nothing happens systemd status just as I described before I have run the command manually to have a log
adventclad 4
Same issue since last upgrade, also on Ubuntu 16.04.1. I opened an issue on github. naf623 10
I was having the same problem, installing mono-complete seems to have fixed it for me. Might not be the most efficient way, but I have no shortage of space so...
whynotlinux 0
So i think my problem on Debian is a little different to Ubuntu. First the back traces are different. Ubuntu [ERROR] FATAL UNHANDLED EXCEPTION: System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object at MediaBrowser.Server.Mono.MainClass.Main (System.String[] args) <0x40bb00e0 + 0x00225> in <filename unknown>:0 Could not load signature of Patterns.Logging.ILogger:FatalException due to: Could not load file or assembly or one of its dependencies. assembly:System.Runtime, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a type:<unknown type> member:<none> exception inside UnhandledException handler: Object reference not set to an instance of an object exception inside UnhandledException handler: Object reference not set to an instance of an object Debian (jessie) Application Path: /usr/lib/emby-server/bin/MediaBrowser.Server.Mono.exe exception inside UnhandledException handler: Object reference not set to an instance of an object exception inside UnhandledException handler: Object reference not set to an instance of an object [ERROR] FATAL UNHANDLED EXCEPTION: System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object at MediaBrowser.Server.Mono.MainClass.Main (System.String[] args) <0x40e24ff0 + 0x00225> in <filename unknown>:0 Second, Ubuntu the mono-complete package seems fix the problem, not on Debian.... Luke 37096
Is it possible you're installing from the Ubuntu repo when you should be using the Debian repo?
hurricanehrndz 149
Before deploying the next update I will double check debian as well.
whynotlinux 0
Is it possible you're installing from the Ubuntu repo when you should be using the Debian repo? Hi Luke You talk about emby or mono-complete for emby i'm using this one deb http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/emby/Debian_8.0/ / for mono-complete i'm testing with post before and now i rollback with the emby depot Edited September 7, 2016 by whynotlinux

The issue with your deployment might actually have to do with the mono version deployed on your system. Thanks for the feedback. We will look more into this, thank you. I just recently had to reinstall Ubuntu and when I installed emby-server it would not start. After I installed mono-complete (without adding their repo) it started just fine and has ever since. thatoneguy99 33
Yes, my dist-upgrade command is telling me there is an emby upgrade. Will it undo the mono-complete? Or do I need to do that manually? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
