Transcoding not working under http proxy in some devices.

Hello,

Since some time I'm not capable of watching transcoded content under a http proxy in the client side on some devices.

If I set the maximum bandwith (1000 Mbps) in the playback settings (or the android APP settings) I can play any content but if I restrict the bandwith (transcoding?) then I can't play anything.

When I try to play It asks for the audio track and the subtitles and then it fails to play.

My current config:

Client:

Raspberry Pi 2

Emby 2.2.10

Kodi Isengard 15.2

Openelec 6.0.3

Nexus 10 Android tablet with emby app installed.

Server:

Windows Server 2012 R2

EMBY Version 3.0.5972.0

Some other info:

Working clients under http proxy:

Windows and Chrome browser

Windows and Kodi with emby kodi app.

None working clients under http proxy:

Raspberry Pi 2

Emby 2.2.10

Kodi (Isengard, Jarvis and Helix)

Openelec 6.0.3 (openelec 5.x, openelec 6.7.x beta and OSMC)

Android Nexus 10 with emby app.

Windows with Firefox

I atteched the server and kodi logs

Any suggestion?

Thanks in advance

all content? In your specific example, it seemed you were trying to transcode a blu-ray rip (if not, can you provide the media info)? I don't think the server support transcode for this type of file.

Hello,

Thanks for the reply.

All content with high resolution, in my knowladge: all content wich has to be transcoded. If I disable the proxy and I try to play the media within NAT it works perfectly.

In conclusion: all my media without proxy can be played in the same devices.

Thanks

Does it create a server log for transcode when you try to play the content in Kodi? I will have to update our playback aspect soon to accommodate for the newer server features.

Could you do me a favor for now, enable debug in kodi and try to play something that will fail. Post your new Kodi log, I just want to see if we can pinpoint the reason for the failure - if it's coming from Kodi or the server. Thanks!

Edit: I'm fairly certain we have another user with reverse proxy - I don't know if they have the same issue...

Hello

Here you are.

I think the key part is that:

01:01:19  79.001472 T:1567618112   ERROR: ffmpeg[5D6FF440]: [tcp] Failed to resolve hostname casandra.vidal.xxx: Name or service not known

Thanks in advance

Kodi is complaining about this (line 974 in your log), this is why it's unable to playback the file. I am not sure how this can be resolved...

Hello

I found that http://www.rieter.net/content/2013/11/23/about-proxies-and-streaming/

"However, as soon as Kodi starts playing a stream, Retrospect is unloaded and any requests made by Kodi will no longer use the proxy. To solve this issue, I added a patch to pass a proxy on to Kodi for a specific stream."

and a kodi bug :(

https://bitbucket.org/basrieter/xbmc-online-tv/issues/649/cannot-watch-uitzendinggemist-with-proxy

Maybe It might help
