GollyJer 17
Is there a simple way I'm missing to sort Windows video files by year? Would emby be OK with me naming files "(year) This is the name.mkv"? This is what they look like now and I want to be able to see them in year order.
MEB 26
If you have entered the metadata for the year tag then yes. Right click the details bar where it says date modified and click more and add the Year. Or you can just search for the year you want and it should mostly show the right ones. This is a easy way to tag them with the missing meta as well since you can select all and edit the properties. Edited June 17, 2016 by MEB
Koleckai Silvestri 1150
In Emby, you can go to the Movies view and order them by Timeline. This will sort them by the release date of the movie itself. In Windows, you would need to write a script that parsed your (year) and used a touch command to update the date of the file.
