Music Library: Text List Option for Large Database?

Hello Emby,

I have a rather large library:

1500+ Movies

3100+ TV Shows

10300+ Albums (130K songs)

The movie/TV database processes quickly, but the music is horribly slow (due to size, I assume - see screen shot - the little wheel keeps on turnin'...).

Is there a way to default (server side) the music viewing options to text only (no thumbs)?

Is there something I'm doing incorrectly? I like the way WMC handled music lists and allowed you to scroll through the library as a text field...

Note: I hung on as long as possible with WMC and the Emby WMC version for the last few years. I made the plunge a few months back and upgraded (2) HTPC's and (1) Server to Windows 10 and have now completely converted to Emby Theater... I love it. There's a few bugs here and there but the development is great and I thank you very much for the work you've put into it. Great Job Emby Team.

Blair

Hello Emby,

Just checking in... I'm unable to display the Album Artists... the wheel just spins, most likely due to the size of the database.

Has anyone had this issue and if so, do you know of a way to correct it?

This is an issue with my HTPC's running Emby Theater on Windows 10 (x64).

This is an issue with the web GUI.

This is an issue with the Android app as well (Galaxy S6 / Galaxy Tab S2)...

Update: Attached is a log from when I launched Emby theater from my desktop machine and tried to access the Album Artists.

Ernst

I am experiencing similar issues with the music library in ET.

Running server 3.1.9.0 and ET 2.4.1

My library is very modest though (only 190 albums)

First of all, all other libraries load quick enough, no problem there.

the initial music screen loads relatively quick and so does the albumartists screen (although not as quickly as it used to).

The problem occurs when i try to load the album screen or the artists screen.

These two take forever to load or won't load at all (spinning circle).

I did notice that the problem is getting significantly less annoying when i take out one album that contains 2000 songs.

I tried to mitigate the issue by splitting this album in 10 separate CD folders with 200 songs each, and placed those in the album folder.

Sadly this solution did not work.

I have no idea what causes this behaviour, but it is strange it only occurs on the music library and not for instance on the Photo library which contains thousands of photo's.

Could it be a caching issue?

One other thing i noticed is that the issue does not occur when browsing the libraries in the servers webclient, it only occurs in ET.

If you need me to send you the log files, please let me know which ones you'd like to see (server and/or ET log)

I hope this issue can be solved, as it is the only issue that prevents me from using ET for music, everything else works like a charm.

Some additional info:

I noticed that when ET is spinning on the album view or the artists view, minimizing ET and opening the server log via the web browser (Emby configuration), going back to ET instantly shows the albums / artists.

It feels like opening the log releases the information to ET.

I can't figure out why this works, but it does 9 out of 10 times.

Maybe this information can help identifying the real issue with the music library.

The Issue:

    - When selecting "Album Artists", "Artists" or "Songs", the revolving circle just spins and never launches the page.

    - All of the movie/TV folders operate as expected.

    - Music "Suggestions" launches without issue.

    - Music "Albums" launches without issue and I can click through all pages to the end of the list.

    - I can play locally or stream, all movies/TV/music content without issue.

       - From all of the devices listed above.

If it helps you, I'm willing to grant an admin access to my library to review the issue...

Thank you much!
