djlf 40
When installing MBC the installer hangs at the very end and I have to close it using task manager. MBC seems to install correctly but when I run configurator it just hangs on loading and doesn't run. How can I get configurator to run again? - <Event xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/win/2004/08/events/event"> - <System> <Provider Name="MsiInstaller" /> <EventID Qualifiers="0">11722</EventID> <Level>2</Level> <Task>0</Task> <Keywords>0x80000000000000</Keywords> <TimeCreated SystemTime="2013-12-26T19:24:48.000000000Z" /> <EventRecordID>96141</EventRecordID> <Channel>Application</Channel> <Computer>Declan-PC</Computer> <Security UserID="S-1-5-21-3647984222-3212462054-528674743-1000" /> </System> - <EventData> <Data>Product: Media Browser Classic -- Error 1722. ebr 14944
What version of MBC and what OS? Looks like a .net problem. Try re-installing .net 3.5 sp1
djlf 40
Using latest version of mbc on windows 7 home version. Have checked .net 3.5 sp1 install using verifying tool etc. and it seems to be ok. .net 3.5 is installed as part of the OS so I have turn it off from control panel and then restarted that feature. But I don't think there is a way to actually reinstall it as OS won't let you. Any other ideas? Thanks.
ebr 14944
Well, I'm not sure what you thing the "latest" version of MBC is. Please provide actual version numbers. Have you tried completely un-installing MBC and re-installing from web site?

ebr 14944
Something very old is being found on your system. Look for any dlls or executables related to MB (from any version) on your entire machine. Fully-uninstall any MB related stuff. Check that secret staging area Windows uses for things that wouldn't install into the place it was supposed to. This line from your log was generated by a version of a MB component that is over a year old: 2013-12-26 07:32:01.5852,Info,,*** Migrating custom display prefs to version 2.6.1.0,5,Worker thread for Config notify
djlf 40
"Check that secret staging area Windows uses for things that wouldn't install into the place it was supposed to." Where is that exactly? Any idea what that line might be referring to?
ebr 14944
I can't for the life of me remember what it is called but, in some versions of Windows, if you try to install a program into an area for which the current user doesn't have proper permissions to do so, it will still install it but it puts it into some sort of cache location instead - and it does this silently without the user realizing it. Really stupid IMO but we have run into it before. I'm not at all convinced that is your problem but I can't see how you ever got to that line of code in any recent version of the program.
