iOS lightning HDMI out and subtitles

Hi,

 

I've tried to use ios emby and when I play a movie with subtitles it works fine on the ipad.

When I connect the ipad to the TV with HDMI out cable then the movie is shown in a windowed mode (not full screen) with the subtitles far below the movie.

If I press full screen mode on the ipad then the subtitles are not shown at all and the movie continues to play in full screen on the TV.

 

Is there a trick to get subtitles to work in full screen when using HDMI out on the ios device? Or is this something that is caused by iOS itself?
