Initial install uses directplay despite addon(play) being selected

Hi there,

 

I have recently had all my boxes updated and some had problems playing over the internet, despite the addon being selected it was trying to use direct play according to the logs.

 

This is also happening on new installs on a fresh kodi installation.

I have to select directplay in the settings and confirm it and then go back and select addonplay so it resyncs. 

 

On another note ive had kodi restart while doing a initial sync on some machines, is it usual to use a lot of memory while its doing a sync as it seems to happen on lower memory machines.

The log snippet doesn't show anything really relevant. Next time post your complete log. Go to add-on settings > playback > Enable Play from http instead of SMB. This is to force direct stream/transcode depending on the video quality so you can view the content over the internet.

 

Playback mode: Addon - you can direct play, direct stream or transcode.

Playback mode: Native - you can only direct play, Kodi controls playback completely.

 

To fix the kodi restart, add-on settings > sync option > limit artwork cache thread to 25.
