Solution: Unable to connect to server from all client devices after latest upgrade

Hi all,

 

So as the subject says, after the latest stable release upgrade I was unable to reach my server from other devices in my network including, but not limited to Roku 3, Roku 4, Android, Smart TV, Browser. 

 

I reinstalled, wiping out all the old stuff several times, then tried installing the beta - nothing worked. 

 

I figured out what went wrong and I thought it might be helpful:

 

I already had Windows Firewall rules in place for public and private udp and tcp for the old path to the executable, ie. app/roaming/mediabrowser.  After the latest upgrade, the directory structure moved over to app/roaming/emby server (or something, whatever) and there were indeed new firewall rules enabled, but something went wrong, because the new rules were set to block and the old rules were still in place.

 

It's only gonna be people with the old directory structure hanging around that didn't get a full uninstall done who are going to encounter this, I guess.
