Chromecast and VPN

Hi,

I'm quite new to Emby, but love it so far!

Having some problems with casting from the Android app though.
I'm connecting to Emby through my OpenVPN server. Works like a charm. Casting to a Chromecast doesn't work through the VPN, which is expected, since the Chromecast want to connect directly to the Emby server. (Which of course is impossible, since it's behind a VPN and the chromecast is at some remote LAN.)

Is there any way to force the stream to go directly from the Android app?

Another way would be to use the built-in Chromecast mirror feature of Android and then simply press play in Emby. But that gives me a rather nasty crash of the Emby app.

The only way I've found that works is to mirror Android and use VLC as an external player when playing video. That works great, but from what I understand, it's not possible to use external subtitles this way.

If anyone are in a similar situation I would love some ideas!
