Thanks guys, the purge and reinstall with 14.04 repos worked...like a charm. Now I just have to figure out how to use it, looks good.  Thanks again

There must be something wrong because when I do the purge and autoremove, only the emby-server package is removed. Isn't the whole mono system meant to be removed too?

What I have noticed is that this appears when purging:

Rimozione di emby-server-beta...

Eliminazione dei file di configurazione di emby-server-beta...

dpkg: attenzione: nel rimuovere emby-server-beta, la directory "/usr/lib/emby-server/bin" è risultata non vuota e non viene rimossa

Which means its not deleting /usr/lib/emby-server/bin because there is a file in there:

:/etc/apt$ ls /usr/lib/emby-server/bin

MediaBrowser.Server.Mono.exe.so

Let's start a new thread. Your running instructions that are not for you.

By the way thank you for the error report. I will try ensure that this file is moved.

You won't believe it but this time it worked ... the only thing that i did differently was manually delete that folder. Hurra! Now i have to understand how to restore everything. Luckily i had the backup plugin. Hope it works ...
