"Android’s showing at CES has diminished when compared to earlier years, but Google is making it up with many companies announcing Google Cast and Android TV devices. The former is a cheap alternative to Sonos and the latter is becoming the defacto OS for TV makers who don’t want to deal with software.

Long time Google Cast partner Sony introduced two new speakers. While new Google Cast devices are coming in a variety of form factors from Harman Kardon, B&O Play, Onkyo, Philips, Pioneer, and Raumfeld throughout 2016. The addition of multi-room audio, coming in 2016, will allow these speakers to play the same audio no matter where they are located in the house. It ends up being a much cheaper alternative to Sonos.

On the Android TV front, current partners Sony, Sharp, and Philips are refreshing their offerings. Sony updated their line of Bravia smart TVs and announced a 4K video store for later this year. At last year’s CES, Sony started using Android TV as the operating system for all their smart televisions. Over 2016, new partners Arcelik, Vestel, RCA, Hisense, TCL and Bang & Olufsen will be releasing televisions and set top boxes running Android TV."
