Transcoding for Android

I need to transcode my movies to a format that Android can play natively.  I know there's players that work better, but I am trying to stream to my Samsung Gear VR headset which requires a side-by-side player.  The only player I can find that displays video side-by-side is the Side-by-Side Video Player app in the Google appstore.  Believe it or not, that's the only one.  It doesn't include codecs, so it only supports videos that Android supports natively.  MBS is configured for DLNA and I'm using Bubbleupnp to connect.  When I try to play a video, I get video but no audio.  An error appears in the android player stating "Unable to play audio track.  Unsupported audio codec"  The BubbleUpnp profile  shows the following:

Protocol: HTTP

Container: ts

Video Codec: h264

Audio Codec: aac

aac, should work natively, but either it doesn't, or MB isn't transcoding correctly.  Any ideas?

I looked at an example of this.  The file was an MP4 with a AC3 audio.  MBS should be transcoding AC3 to aac, but it's not.  MX Player states that the audio streamed is AC3.
