SJC2123 2
I'm just trying to watch a movie on my PS3 through Emby's DLNA server, and for some reason the 5.1 AC3 audio is being transcoded to 2.0 channel MP3... But the PS3 supports the 5.1 AC3 audio just fine. When I use "PS3 Media Server" it plays perfectly, full 5.1 surround sound. Just emby is forcing all my 5.1 AC3/DTS movies to 2.0 mp3. The videos I'm trying to play are MKV containers, h264 video codec, AC3 audio codec. What values can I change in the PS3 xml profile to fix this? Luke 37125
you could try increasing the bitrate to increase the chances that the file will direct play
SJC2123 2
The issue was "mp3" is forced in the profile due to DLNA > Profiles > Playstation 3 > Transcoding > Video > Audio Codec. Changing that to ac3 fixed it. Don't know why mp3 gets forced on everything
Luke 37125
The issue was "mp3" is forced in the profile due to DLNA > Profiles > Playstation 3 > Transcoding > Video > Audio Codec. Changing that to ac3 fixed it. Don't know why mp3 gets forced on everything because not everyone is setup for 5.1 passthrough ac3 so it needs to be something that is opt-in. Vidman 589
But the ps3 has its own settings for that and will transcode audio as required
