emab 1
Hi, My network setup is as follows:Windows PC connected through ethernet to router. Macbook Pro connected via router to WiFi. Chromecast connected to TV. When I run Emby server from laptop, and connect my windows PC via a network drive, I can stream videos from PC to the chromecast via my laptop. However, I'd rather have the server running from my windows PC. When I set it up from there, all devices can connect and login fine, and can also view all videos. From my laptop, I can connect to my PC and watch videos. I can also connect my laptop to the chromecase so the "Ready to cast" screen comes up. If I press play, nothing happens at all. This only happens when the server is running on my windows PC. Any ideas on why this is an issue? Thanks, Eddy. EDIT: I can cast from the Android mobile app, but not from my laptop. EDIT2: I cannot appear to be able to cast from the Desktop PC. Edited November 26, 2015 by emab
hedgehogg 104
I know it's obvious but have you checked firewalls?
emab 1
I know it's obvious but have you checked firewalls? I have disabled the firewall on my router. Since it worked from my phone I don't think it's an issue with the desktop PC's firewall (which is just windows defender). I'll try disabling it and see what happens. EDIT: Tried disabling firewall on both desktop PC and Macbook - didn't seem to make a difference. Edited November 26, 2015 by emab
Solution emab 1 Posted November 27, 2015 Author Solution Share Posted November 27, 2015 (edited) Another weird thing is: although I cannot cast Emby from my wired desktop PC, I can cast a webpage through google chrome. EDIT: Think I have found the problem. The host PC has a static IP address on my local network: 192.168.0.2. The chromecast is on the same subdomain. However, in Emby, it says the local address is something completely different (starting with 25.xx.xx.xx). Why is this? EDIT2: FIXED!For those who have this problem do this:On the host computer, go to "Network and Sharing Center" ---> "Change adapter settings". Make sure the ethernet connection is the default connection. Maybe disable the others if you're not using them. jevad 0
Took some searches to find this topic, but BIG SUGGESTION TO PUT THIS IN THE WIKI or FAQ's. I had the same thing happen, and it was the combination of changing the binding and disabling the WIFI adaptor. Thanks for those that contributed.
