I recently added the iphone app. When I sign in, the app sees my server but when click on the server, I get the message Connection Failure.  I know the server is running.  Why will it not connect?

Are you connecting via wifi, or remotely?

Can you access the same emby server via a browser?

Is Emby running on a Windows machine, if so did you open port 8096 through the firewall?

If accessing remotely did you port forward port 8096 through your router?

Trying to connect for the first time via iphone 5s on the same wi-fi home network.

When I first open emby on my iphone, I enter the email and password associated with my emby.connect account.

I can see the server as one of the selection, but when I try to connect, I receive the following error

Connection Failure

We're unable to connect to the

selected server right now.

Please ensure it is running and try again.

Emby server hosted on windows 10

I believe the emby server is running as I see the icon tray

Followed the instructions to open the ports 8096 and 8920 on emby server's windows firewall:

There is no anti-virus and windows defender is disabled.

I'm able to connect on the same machine as the emby server and see the movies that I've added to the library in chrome.

I cannot connect via:

- the emby app from the iphone

- chrome on the iphone.

- chrome on another tablet  (this is on the same network as the emby server).

Is there a different window network setting I need to enable/disable?

The error message from the iphone and tablet's chrome.is that ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT

if you're within your home network you could try entering your server's ip address manually rather than using emby connect. see if that works.
