inkubux 7
It would be great if the webUI would support a more advances video player like the android version. There is a VLC implementation named Webchimera http://www.webchimera.org/ You can use in your browser that works wonders in some other project.. eg: http://www.strem.io/ It would be great if the Web UI would support Webchimera so we could reduce transcoding (if the plugin is installed) Let me know if you think it would be something possible. I know transcoding with the WebUI is to reduce bandwidth, but In my case my connection can sustain multiple HD stream, it's my server hardware that can't transcode more than one 720p stream at 2kbps (I can't wait for Quick sync support for encoding. Decoding works well but dose not add much in terms of transcoding capacity for my server) Thanks a lot Update: It looks like I was to fast about posting about this. Chrome has deprecated the necessary API ,and it only works in firefox and Electron Apps Edited October 27, 2015 by inkubux
Luke 37269
All of the major browsers are deprecating support for NPAPI plugins Announcement: As of September 2015, WebChimera NPAPI Plugin and Player will only work with FireFox and Internet Explorer. Chrome, Opera and Microsoft Edge will no longer support WebChimera NPAPI (and ActiveX) Plugin due to NPAPI Deprecation. http://wiki.webchimera.org/Introduction If firefox and a (now obsolete) IE are the only beneficiaries, then it is not worth spending any time on. I would just hang tight because i think in 2016 you're going to see more advanced video players from both chrome and edge. those two browsers are advancing in capabilities very quickly and it's only a matter of time before they turn their attention to the video player. Thanks for your answer. I realized right after my post that the NPAPI were deprecated. I'll wait to see what will be available in chrome in the future.
