Where does the android app check for trusted certs?

I am using a self signed cert for emby. I have imported my CA cert to the Android device and it is recoginzed by other apps including chrome, owncloud, gitlab and openvpn. I can see this when opening chrome and going to my emby url with https and chrome shows a green lock. However the android emby doesn't seem to be using the device's trusted CA cert store. So what or where is the emby android app checking for trusted certs?
