Forece transcoding for specific codecs

Hello,

I am currently setting up emby for Kodi on my Fire TV box. Almost everything is working perfectly fine but i have a few movies that are in VC1 format, which the fire tv can't handle at all with a stable framerate.

So my question is if it is possible to force transcoding for some codecs?

My second question is:

When you login to Emby via browser you can see the active clients currently connected to the server. is there a way to check this status outside of the browser like with a shell script?

The reason im asking is because my emby server is currently setup to autoshutdown if the is no samba connections and i wanna include a check for active emby users so it doesnt shut down if someone is watching a movie :D

Does direct streaming instead of direct playing give a better outcome for your vc1 format (enable play from http in the emby add-on settings)?

There is an api endpoint for active devices in the emby server. You could use it to determine if any devices are currently connected. However, you'd get more help asking this in the api section of our forums.

I have already tried the "play via http feature" but i gave the same bad performance. The problem lies with the fire tv and its operation system not supporting vc1 codec.

Okay thanks for the heads upi will look into the api forum

thank you
