jeffnoone 1
I'm using the username and password that works with Emby Connect. Also an Emby supporter Have Emby 3.0.5724.3 running on a Windows 8 PC, as follows: "Emby Server is up to date Running on http port 8096, and https port 8920. Local access: http://192.xxx.0.30:8096 (this is a local IP address) Remote access: http://xxx.xxx.xx.xx:8096" (This is in proper FQDN domain format) When I try to login in on the server machine from http://192.xxx.0.30:8096, I get an error "invalid username or password. Please try again". THe same behaviour occurs if I try to login in to http://192.xxx.0.30:8096 from another PC on the same network, or if I try to come in externally from the INternet, using the FQDN address: http://xxx.xxx.xx.xx:8096. Note I can get to the sign in page, but cannot sign in, with error above. I can try the "forgot password" function here, but it changes the Emby COnnect password, not the password the server PC seems to want If I use the address http://app.emby.media/dashboard.html, I can sign in no probelm, either direct from server, from any PC or device on home network, or any PC or device on Internet What is the problem here? If the server PC has a unique PW that it requires when I use an address ending .30:8096, I have forgotten that PW. I am unable to reset, as reset just resets the Emby Connect PW. any help appreciated Thanks
Beardyname 195
the connect password is different from the local one, if you have not setup one try login in with a blank password.
Happy2Play 8319
If I use the address http://app.emby.media/dashboard.html, I can sign in no probelm, either direct from server, from any PC or device on home network, or any PC or device on Internet If your linked account has "Allow this user to manage the server" you can go to the dashboard on Connect and reset the Users password. jeffnoone 1
Thanks for these two suggestions, but neither seem to do the trick. At this point, I only have one user (myself) and therefore just one username name. Under the dashboard privileges, I have every privilege. I tried to change password here again, - ( http://app.emby.media/userpassword.html?userId=......) but this had same result, I end up changing the PW which gives me access thru app.emby.media, but not thru the local IP address. Any other suggestions to try? My problem seems to be that I now have two different PW, but cant remember the local access one - how do I change the local access one, when I cant sign on with local access address? Happy2Play 8319
Well if you are logged in via connect and went to the user you can reset the password for the local user.
Solution jeffnoone 1 Posted September 6, 2015 Author Solution Share Posted September 6, 2015 Thanks to all for help. Got it sorted now. Problem was my own, I had a Emby username from when I signed up initially and became supporter - I didnt realise that the name I used on the server as user was my first name, so two different names. All the possibly different usernames or user names and passwords are confusing also: server username and PW, server user and PW, Connect username and PW, community username and PW. Thanks again Problem solved
