myriaxis 3 Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 Hi, I've been using Emby for the past 6 months with a Roku 3 and I simply love it! I organized my media library simply with one movie folder and one TV folder. Yesterday, I created an offline movie folder to keep track of my dvd collection. I think I followed the Media Stubs Wiki correctly. Within the offline movie folder, I created one empty file per dvd using the following standard: /Offline Movies movie1 (year).dvd.disc movie2 (year).dvd.disc movie3 (year).bluray.disc etc. When Emby scans the folder, each movie is automatically identified and movie images are added, like: /Offline Movies movie1 (year).dvd.disc movie1 (year).dvd-banner.jpg movie1 (year).dvd-fanart.jpg movie1 (year).dvd-fanart1.jpg movie1 (year).dvd-fanart2.jpg movie1 (year).dvd-landscape.jpg movie1 (year).dvd-logo.png movie1 (year).dvd-poster.jpg movie2 (year).dvd.disc movie2 (year).dvd-banner.jpg movie2 (year).dvd-fanart.jpg movie2 (year).dvd-fanart1.jpg movie2 (year).dvd-fanart2.jpg movie2 (year).dvd-landscape.jpg movie2 (year).dvd-logo.png movie2 (year).dvd-poster.jpg etc. I checked the library and all offline movies were properly identified and displayed. So far so good. This morning, I checked the library again and noticed that all offline movies now have the same description. The movie posters are OK, but the metadata is the same for all offline movies, copied from one of the offline movies. When I compared the Offline Movies folder with the Movies folder, I noticed that Emby didn't create a nfo file for each offline movie like it does for a regular mp4. I also noticed that Emby created a "Offline Movies.nfo" file under the Offline Movies folder. Any idea why I'm getting this behavior? I'm using Emby Server Version 3.0.5675.1 under Windows. Thanks for your help.
ebr 15680 Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 Does there happen to be a single real video file in that folder too?
myriaxis 3 Posted August 10, 2015 Author Posted August 10, 2015 Nope. It's a folder with no video files, just stubs. Should there be real video files?
Luke 40145 Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 what you're doing looks fine. it's probably just a scenario that hasn't seen as much testing as the more convention ones. so it will have to be reviewed in a future release.
myriaxis 3 Posted August 11, 2015 Author Posted August 11, 2015 OK. Thanks. I'm not in a hurry. I'll be glad to help you if you want, i.e. providing configurations, logs, testing. One more thing. I tried it twice and got the same results, except that the offline movie used for filling the metadata was different each time. It may just be a coincidence, but the offline movies used for filling the metadata were both tagged as "bluray", i.e. "movie1 (year).bluray.disc.
myriaxis 3 Posted September 3, 2015 Author Posted September 3, 2015 Hi, Is there any chance this problem is fixed with Emby Server Version 3.0.5724.3?
myriaxis 3 Posted October 31, 2015 Author Posted October 31, 2015 Hi, I just installed Emby Server Version 3.0.5781.0 and the problem is still the same. Is there any chance this problem be fixed in the next release? Thanks
Luke 40145 Posted October 31, 2015 Posted October 31, 2015 i did not get a chance to look at it sorry. we'll look at it for a future release.
myriaxis 3 Posted January 24, 2016 Author Posted January 24, 2016 Hi, I just installed Emby Server Version 3.0.5818.0 and the problem is still the same. I understand this problem is low in priority. Is there any chance this problem be fixed in the next release? Thanks
myriaxis 3 Posted April 19, 2016 Author Posted April 19, 2016 Hi, I just installed Emby Server Version 3.0.5930.0 and the problem is still the same. Is there any chance this problem be fixed in the next release? Thanks
AdrianW 1055 Posted April 20, 2016 Posted April 20, 2016 I realise you probably don't want to do this - but a workaround is to just to put each movie stub into it's own folder.
Luke 40145 Posted April 20, 2016 Posted April 20, 2016 I'm sorry we have not been able to get to it. We'll look at it when we have a chance, thanks.
myriaxis 3 Posted April 22, 2016 Author Posted April 22, 2016 AdrianW - Thanks for the tip. You're right, I'd prefer not to put each movie stub into it's own folder. Luke - Thanks for the reply. Let me know if I can help testing.
myriaxis 3 Posted June 15, 2016 Author Posted June 15, 2016 Hello Luke, When you have a chance, it would be nice to have this one fixed. Please let me know if you need/want more details about the problem. Thanks,
myriaxis 3 Posted November 5, 2016 Author Posted November 5, 2016 Hello Luke, I was wondering if you had a chance to look at this problem. I'd really like to be able to use a folder of stubs without having to create one subfolder for each stub. Please let me know if you need help with testing. Thanks,
Luke 40145 Posted November 5, 2016 Posted November 5, 2016 Can you retest this with a fresh new folder that emby hasn't seen before? thanks.
myriaxis 3 Posted November 5, 2016 Author Posted November 5, 2016 Hello Luke, I just updated to 3.0.8500.0. I added the following files directly under a test folder. Test Patton (1970).dvd.disc Paycheck (2003).dvd.disc Pearl Harbour (2001).dvd.disc Philadelphia (1993).dvd.disc Planet of the Apes (2001).dvd.disc Presumed Innocent (1990).dvd.disc Pretty Woman (1990).dvd.disc I created a new movie library called Test pointing to the test folder only. After the library scan, all movies are identified as Patton for metadata and pictures. If I manually select one movie, for example Philadelphia (1993), and force a new identification, the movie is identified correctly. But then all the other movies are now identified as this newly identified movie, i.e. Philadelphia (1993), but the pictures are not necessarily updated.
Solution myriaxis 3 Posted December 28, 2016 Author Solution Posted December 28, 2016 Thanks Luke, I installed Emby Server 3.1.1.0 and the problem is fixed. Very well done. Thank you. 1
