Emby for Android 2.3.79 has been released to the play store and now features a new video player built around LibVlc, the same engine that powers VLC.

What this means is you can expect less server transcoding, more stable playback, and faster performance. In future releases we may be able to do even greater things, such as completely eliminating server transcoding, and direct playback of DVD, Bluray, and ISO structures. Stay tuned for more.

Redesigned In-Video Menus

You’ll find the menus much easier and more responsive to navigate.

The release also features a number of fixes for Chromecast. We apologize for the delay in getting these fixes out to you.

Simplified Layouts

Many of the layouts have been simplified to reduce the amount of on-screen information. Just swipe and enjoy.
