emby on roku3 will not play wma files

Hello Emby, I have a question. I have emby setup on my win 8.1 pc. It runs fine with the server portion. I stream my movies and music collection to my tv via roku 3. If I play certain song that are ripped using wma they play fine. but others will not play. I converted one of the song thay would not play to mp3 and it played. the emby server thinks the song played fine but from the roku side it just shows a right arrow and does not play.

If any of your WMA files are in a lossless format (max bitrate - 100% quality) the Roku 3 probably won't play them. Another possibilty is that they are in a VBR (Variable Bit Rate vs. Constant Bit Rate) format, regardless of the quality setting.  I rip all my CDs in WMA lossless format (VBR at the highest quality setting) for archival purposes, then re-encode them to MP3 format at 192kbps (your choice) which will play on virtually any device. Hope this gives you some ideas.
