reluctantflux 38
Just wondering if the Android TV native search and voice search return items from Emby. If not, is it possible or on the roadmap? Thanks.
ebr 15186
Not from outside the app. Mostly due to the complication of multiple users. It will probably get there at some point.

Does this mean voice search works for our media if you are logged into the app?
ebr 15186
Does this mean voice search works for our media if you are logged into the app? It does from within the app but only on the Android TV platform. The Fire does not give us access to its voice search capabilities.

ebr 15186
I didn't know that For clarity - If you press the microphone button on your remote, you will be taken to the global Google search on the device and it will not find any results from us. This is their intended design (to drive you to their search engine as much as possible) and is the same as if you hit the hard "search" icon on your phone. To use voice search within our app, you need to actually select the search icon on the screen within our app. Then you will be taken to a search page and (on ATV) voice will automatically be engaged and you can speak into your remote.

Mobius 18
This is an old topic. If you hit the microphone button on your remote while in our app, you will be taken to our search and can use voice search to search your library. I know it's an old topic EBR, so I apologise in advance. Just wanted to share my recent observations. Voice search worked perfectly once inside the Emby app., and only searched my Emby database. Did not even have to select the search icon within Emby. Was exceedingly pleased with that feature. Very useful However the TV upgraded recently and now I if I use voice search to find a show like 'Fringe' for instance; I get the following results: 1.Google Play listing. 2.Cast listing. 3.People also search for. 4 Youtube. Emby database results are simply not there. If I search for say; 'Pirates of the Carribbean; I currently get: 1. A summary of the series. - Clicking the down arrow for 'view more' will then show you: 2. Movies (Clicking any movie will take you to Google play). 3. Youtube. 4. Cast Listing. So it seems they have rendered the use of voice search within Emby utterly useless. Shame really, as the voice search was excellent feature when you have a large library. I am using the latest Emby App in addition to the TV update, so I am wondering if the latest Emby App may just need to be updated to get the search to work as it did previously. Note: Using the keyboard search within the app still searches the Emby database exclusively, so I at least I can still use that. ebr 15186
Yes, newer implementations of Android TV have the Google Assistant hijacking all voice requests so we have to completely re-do our implementation and we just haven't gotten there yet. Thanks.
