defiance77 9
There must be something I'm missing here. I tried to set up folder sync to pre transcode some of my old TV shows into a format more suitable for my wifes tablet that my intention was to copy ther for offline viewing. No matter what sync settings I use the transcoded result is in horrible quality. I tried both Original and Baseline on High and the result is so pixelated its not watchable on any device. I tried Custom with all kinds of bitrates up to 100Mbs and the result is still the same, a huge file in horrible quality. What am I doing wrong? Luke 37115
if you use original then this cannot possibly be true as it just copies the original file. what is probably happening is the client is still transcoding and you are unhappy with the transcoding quality. but i doubt there's a problem with the synced file. defiance77 9
Sorry not original o meant General and Baseline. No one could possibly be happy with the result I'm getting. its not watchable at all. I'm checking the result locally in other media players and the resulting videos are so pixelated it's not even possible to recognize the people
Luke 37115
can you post the media info of the source file from the web client, as well as the sync transcoding log? thanks.
AgileHumor 123
It's had pretty good quality for me. Try a custom bitrate that is ver y high (like 10mbs).

swhitmore 781
That bitrate is very low..
defiance77 9
It doesnt matter what source I use. All end up with the same unwatchable result. I wanted to convert all TV shows I want to archive to a uniformed format that I know will be playable on most devices. From what I understood that was the main point of the folder sync plugin. I just cant manage to get any episode into watchable quality. The originals are crystal clear and all converted ones end extremly pixelated no matter what quility settings I choose. dragon2611 27
If the source is crap then any output is also going to be crap. Try and find something that's at least 3Mbit/s 720P video and see if that converts better. Edited May 6, 2015 by dragon2611

Try and find something that's at least 3Mbit/s 720P video and see if that converts better. Source is giving me perfectly crystal clear picture The result is nothing remotely close. It's in no way watchable.
kamakamadaun 6
I have the same problem (though I would call it very watchable in my case). It doesn't look like to me that the custom bitrate is used. Luke 37115
well we pass the maxrate into ffmpeg and it ends up with something lower. we'll try bumping up the crf param that should cause the output bitrate to be closer to the requested max.
shimmerknight 5
I am seeing a similar result as the others in this thread. No matter what i choose general(high), baseline(high or low) or various custom settings the result is a file nearly identical to all the other options chosen. If there is anything you need feel free to ask.
