Bypass transoder option

Hi,

 

Is there a way to bypass the transcoder or to always "Direct Play" the original file irrespective of client settings.

 

All content is in MP4/AAC, shouldn't need transcoding, plays fine everywhere when set to original. However, original is not always offered or the default streaming quality 720p 1mb is just a tad low. 

 

Have the identical issue with PLEX, was hoping Media Browser isn't so rigid.

If you are using the web client you could chose upon playing, the bitrate setting from the top right icons.

The server will only transcode when the client says it doesn't support some element of the media but the server calls any change to the AV stream a transcode, even when it's dong something like switching the container type while doing nothing to the audio or video.

 

You'd need to look in your transcoding log to see what change was actually required in the stream by the client in question.
